Plasticity Testing (ASTM D926)

The plasticity of rubber affects the properties when molding silicone rubber products and is an important property to control to ensure consistent molding. The main test that Rubber Mexico uses is ASTM D926 where an uncured rubber specimen is placed in a machine that applies a specified amount of pressure at a specific temperature over a specified amount of time. The change in height of the speciment is how the plasticity or viscosity of the rubber material is determined.
