Low Temperature Resistance (ASTM D2137)
Low Temperature Resistance (ASTM D2137)
Rubber products are often placed in environments where they are exposed to the elements. One environmental condition that can affect the performance of the rubber is temperature, specifically low temperature. When exposed to low temperatures rubbers become more brittle. Certain rubber polymers and rubber compounds become more brittle faster than other polymer and compounds. For this reason it is important to be able to test how the rubber compound performs at the temperature your material might be exposed to ensure that the rubber used in your parts will not become brittle when exposed to that temperature in the application and not perform as intended.
The most common test that we perform is ASTM D2137 which is a standarized test to confirm that the rubber material does not become brittle at a specific temperature. By performing this test in our lab we can provide reassurance to our customers that the compounds that we use in molding your products will continue to perform even in the most extreme low temperatures that your rubber products can be exposed to. This is a critical test to be done to avoid failures of rubber products that could cost costly down time or damage to the products where the rubber parts are installed.
Rubber Mexico has ample testing data and experience with creating compounds with excellent low temperature resistance. Come to Rubber Mexico for all your needs where rubber products must perform consistently at even the lowest of temperatures!
